While still on the ground attach the doors with four hinges each using a self centering bit. Measure how tall you need the bottom shelf and mark for reference. At 24 deep standard base cabinets allow you to bend over and reach in to retrieve anything at the back. The 1x2 in the front should form a lip to prevent things from sliding off easily.

I show you how i built a large storage cabinet with doors for my garage. Build the upper cabinets with the same techniques and materials used for the uprights. Make them the same as the base see previous section and image 5 above but swap out the 2x2 s for 1x2 s. Make cabinets as wide as you like but remember that the wider the doors the greater the tendency to rack and warp.
